Abstract

The move to make educational establishments to collaborate more closely with the world of work is currently very strong. A. Gonnin-Bolo has studied the image teachers have of industrial and commercial enterprises in order to discover the best way in which to bring about such cooperation. Among the teachers questioned she notes that the negative image they have of traditional 'hide bound' businesses is being supplanted by a more positive image of modern, dynamic ones. These opposing views experienced by teachers result in a conflict of loyalties. They are moreover proof that the world of industry mistrusts them. Despite this, however, teachers feel that links between school and the place of work can only be beneficial to both parties.
