Abstract

The article deals with the issue of legal regulation of dental care for patients with COVID-19 virus on the example of the Udmurt Republic. The high rate of spread and increased susceptibility to a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 allowed the World Health Organization to recognize the existence of a pandemic in the world. The pandemic has significantly altered the activities of medical institutions in the Republic of Udmurtia. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in accordance with the Orders of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Health of the Udmurt Republic the routine medical care, including dental care, has been suspended. However, emergency and urgent care was provided in full. The regulation of dental care to the population was also amended accordingly due to the fact that the medical staff was in direct contact with the patient. Due to the specific nature of dental care, health-care workers have an increased risk of infection with SARS CoV-2 because they have direct "face-to-face" contact with patients [Ortega et al., 2020]. Recommendations and guidelines developed around the world, including the Russian Federation, are aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 among both healthcare workers and patients. Compliance with all the prescribed rules by dentists and dental nurses will allow the implementation of oral care activities to the required extent under the created conditions.
