Abstract

The decrease of industrial and domestic atmospheric pollution in Nord -Pas-de-Calais Region. Lille agglomeration, as other main towns of western Europe, has shown a real decrease in sulfuric atmospheric pollution level since ten years. This improvement of air quality is explained by decrease in industrial emissions acording to deep modifications throught industrial network and improvement in technological processes which allow a drop in energy consumption. This technological mutation is the consequence of petroleum crisis. Now the residential sector is leaving gradually coal consumption for burning cleaner sources of energies. This decrease in emissions is prompted by european directive concerning environment topics. French government suscr ibed to this directive and numerous of monitorings networks pollution are developped. If the sulfuric pollution is controlled now, photochimical pollutants remain the main problem of urban air quality.
