Abstract

The question concerning the relationship between Christian religion (held as true and salutary in God's coming among us in His Christ) and other religions, has always been a difficult and délicate one. Even more so, answers of a narrow intolérance as well as those over-relativism, are rendered impossible today because of the présence in our midst of other religions and of the cultural fact of the respect of others. We thought that a first step, therefore partial and thus to be continued, wouldbe to look within christianity rather thanfrom a Sirius' point of view for éléments manifesting a kind of internai «relativising» of christianity by itself. The sixfields of « immanence », as we have called them, (negative theology ; eschatological réservation ; trinitarian doctrine ; composition of the corpus of the Scriptures ; concern about a «natural» theology outside révélation ; fight against its own risks ofidolatry) are only but a first «removing ofstrain» ofthe question. Thus a new epistemological key callingfor a continued research. Our own thought would be misunderstood if one would not add to it the considérations we publish in La foi et le temps, under the title : « Why I believe in the God of Jésus Christ».
