Abstract

Taking into account the aspects of the relationship between architecture and sculpture, the article examines the patterns and the importance of using the generalization of silhouettes of sculptural sculpture in the open public space of the architectural environment. Also, based on the analysis and research of the complexity of the silhouettes of monumental and decorative sculpture and on the basis of identifying decorative and plastic levels, the article defines four categories of interrelationship between the main types of sculptural sculpture, which, depending on the generalization of the silhouette, correspond to the dimensions of the main zones of open public space. It has been determined that the architectural environment, in terms of interconnection with sculpture, affects the monumental and decorative plastics and requires the use of one of the special means of expressing the sculptural composition – a generalization of the silhouette of a volumetric form perceived in an open public space. So sculptural plastic, which in fact becomes one of the participants in the formation of the object space, is certainly subject to the correction of the silhouette by determining the level of its generalization, depending on the distance of perception. Based on the analysis of the implemented monumental and decorative compositions in the urban environment, it has been established that an important means of expressing monumental and decorative plastics, which is used in an open public space, is the so-called "level of generalization of the silhouette" of the volumetric form - a term that implies the ratio of the size and number of details of the silhouette of the form with the size of the whole sculptural composition, the size of which, in turn, depends on the distance of perception and obeys the dimensions of the space in which it is designed. As a result of the research and analysis, a general conclusion was made: sculptural plastic has a wide range of such special means of expression that allow you to create a general synthetic architectural and artistic image of space at a new qualitative level to create a general compositional integrity and form a single spatial plastic composition with an open public space.
