Abstract
Abstract A two-step sequential method with the π pulse and the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) pulse sequence is applied to the laser control of the singlet–triplet transition in Cl 2 molecule. We find four reaction pathways from the singlet ground state to the triplet excited state by investigating the spin–orbit coupling and the transition dipole moment calculated with gamess software package, and we realize the highly effective singlet–triplet transition by STIRAP method with the spin-mixed intermediate state on picosecond time scale.
