Abstract

Abstract The Taipei basin's land use is portrayed in a new map that used as its main data source a series of very large scale computer-drawn land use maps that were produced by the Taiwan government to facilitate future land use planning on the island. The new map displays eight major categories of land use at a scale of approximately 1:42,000. With accompanying tables, text, and insets, this map sheet provides a valuable tool for understanding the patterns and processes of urban development and land use change in the Taipei area.
