Abstract

Seven fungi strains were checked as biocatalysts of lactonization of ethyl (5,5-dimethyl-2,3-epoxycyclohex-1-yl)acetate. Two of them transformed the racemic substrate with high efficiency and enantioselectivity. Rhodotorula rubra transformed preferentially the (−) enantiomer of substrate, whereas Fusarium semitectum, the (+) one.
