Abstract

This paper presents the implementation aspects of a LabVIEW-Based Multi-Axis Motion Control System. The goal of this work is to design and develop a cost-effective personal computer (PC)-based multi-axis motion control system that can be used for the automated test & measurement applications. The system presented in this work has been developed using “PC Parallel-Port” to driver circuit interface technique which eliminates the requirement of an expensive plug-in motion control board to be installed inside the PC. A PC-to-Motor interface and driver circuit board has been developed for the presented system. The software of the system has been developed using LABVIEW-based graphical programming language. LabVIEW provides the flexibility of integration of data acquisition software/hardware with the motion control application software for automated test and measurement applications. The system developed under this work has the capability to control four axis of motion using DC motors or two axis of motion using stepper motors.
