La version copte des Actes de Pilate

Abstract

The Coptic version of the Acts of Pilate is known by the excellent critical edition of the Turin papyrus n° 1 (F. Rossi, 1883). The existence of two other fragments of the Paris Bibliotheque nationale (P. Lacau, 1904) allows a comparison of these fragments with the Turin papyrus. One can come to the conclusion that there has been at least two Coptic versions, based on different Greek recensions. A study of a few variant readings and especially of significant divergencies between the Coptic versions and known Greek recensions confirms the antiquity of the Greek recension A of the Acts of Pilate, according to Tischendorf's classification.
