Abstract

The Serra of Marina : analysis of landscapes as evidences of development strategies. Fifteen miles north east of Barcelona, the Serra of Marina is part of the longer catalan littoral Cordillera. The main features of its landscapes, mainly perceived though the vegetation and the crops, and even some trends of its ecologie background — the evolution towards aridity of the Maresma facade, e.g. — have changed during the historical period ; they did so according to the changes of various social and economic systems aiming successively at the exploitation of the local resources. These landscapes are much more contrasted than one would expect from the rough edaphic and climatic data.
