Abstract

Scholars have long been familiar with Tibetan texts from Dunhuang dealing with omens drawn from the cawings of crows. Some recently discovered Chinese manuscripts now reveal a Chinese version of the same material. The present paper examines these new sources and attempts to decide whether this divination method was first devised by the Chinese or by the Tibetans.
