Abstract

This article tries to show the affinity between the dynamic world-view of the Bible and «process thought», which can be traced back to the works of A.N. Whitehead (1861-1947). His «philosophy of organism» suggests an ontology in which it is possible to talk about God in an organic way. What is said about God (the Great Companion, the Fellow Sufferer who under- stands) seems to be consonant with the basic intuitions of the Bible. This article wishes to stress that the most informed theologians of this movement respect the aims and methods of both scriptural studies and spéculative philosophy. As such it is an invitation to take into account this current of thought which might be important for a contemporary view of christianity.
