Abstract
Abstract Background: JJ-Stent placement is a routine procedure to ensure that urine flows from the bladder. JJ-Stent placement also has a negative impact on the patient's quality of life, productivity, and sexual function. Objective: This study aims to determine the quality of life of patients using JJ-Stent after PCNL and URS surgery. Methods: This research is a descriptive observational study. Sampling used consecutive sampling technique on patients using JJ-Stent after PCNL and URS surgery at Bunda General Hospital BMC Padang period January – February 2022. The data were obtained from primary data taken using the USSQ questionnaire and secondary data in January – February 2022. with a sample of 29 people. Results: In this study, it was found that most of the patients using JJ-Stent after PCNL and URS surgery were male (65.5%) with the highest age group being 18-65 years (89.7%), and most of the patients were diagnosed with kidney stones. (51.7%). Symptoms that appear in accordance with the existing domains in the USSQ questionnaire are urinary symptoms with the most common symptom being nocturia symptoms (93.1%), pain symptoms with the most common symptoms being pain symptoms at rest (50%), in the general health domain as many as 69% patients do not do strenuous activities but as many as 79.3% of patients do not need extra help from their families and 5 patients (31%) are still working. Of the 29 patients, only 5 patients (17.2%) still had sexual intercourse during the JJ-Stent insertion. Symptoms that appear in patients are side effects caused by JJ-Stent installation which causes a decrease in the patient's quality of life. Conclusion: Finding out the relationship between symptoms and quality of life of patients after JJ-Stent insertion can also be studied further.Keywords: JJ-Stent, PCNL, quality of life, URS, USSQ
