Abstract

The aim of the article is to introduce the process of organizing conferences in Liepaja State Gymnasium No.1, their content, and evaluate this form of communication in order to find answers to the question: what was, is and will be the path of an educated person towards the state of Latvia. The article explains the aim and model of work organization of two conferences - “Looking for creativity in modern pedagogy: Theory and practice” and “Spekke’s readings”, by revealing what was offered to students and teachers during the conference. The aims of the conference “Looking for creativity in modern pedagogy: Theory and practice” are related to describing some best practices in certain aspects, while “Spekke’s readings” focuses on issues that are topical for gymnasiums nowadays – how to promote the development of students’ talents, how to achieve excellence, be more precise and how to create conditions that would support it. In doing so, much bigger space gets explored, both in terms of time and place, conversations on more general issues in education are carried out looking at the teacher’s work with a pupil and the whole class when implementing school aims, objectives for each school year or for a longer planning period. The themes covered in both conferences are related to the school edition “Gymnasium Articles”. Some objectives that were implemented when organizing these conferences can be mentioned: to create the synergy between the conferences and teaching-learning process, and to enlarge the audience of the conferences by involving participants from other schools and organizations.
