Abstract

This study aims to improve learning understanding with the PBL-based STEM approach in improving the mathematical problem skills of students in class X- Multimedia 1 SMK Muhammadiyah Tegal City through the application of the PBL-based STEM approach to trigonometric material. This study, using a classroom action consisting of three cycles. The subjects of this study were students of class X-Multimedia 1 SMK Muhammadiyah Tegal City in the 2019/2020 academic year, which might be 32 people. Data techniques include interviews, observation, problem testing, and documentation. The collected data were then processed by descriptive analysis. The results of the research on the application of the PBL-based STEM approach are as follows: the proportion of students' mathematical problem ability completeness in the first cycle is at a high criterion, namely 81.25%, in the second cycle it has decreased with fewer criteria, namely 46.875% and in the third cycle it has increased with Sufficient criteria, namely 75%.
