Abstract

The purpose of this study is to inventory leading agricultural-based commodities, map them, and formulate strategies and programs in order to increase the productivity of the agricultural sector in Baubau City. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using quantitative approaches. The results of the analysis show that agricultural superior commodities, namely: rice, corn, cassava, and cashew, with temperature, rainfall, soil types in all sub-districts in Baubau City are relatively in accordance with existing agricultural superior commodities. However, these types of superior agricultural commodities are relatively incompatible with the effective soil depth in the existing sub-district areas. There are 4 directions for the policy of developing agricultural superior commodities in Baubau City, i.e.: increasing the yield of agricultural superior commodities to meet the people's food needs; increasing value-added of agricultural superior commodities through the scheme of developing agricultural superior commodities from upstream to downstream; increasing market access capabilities for downstream agricultural commodity-based downstream products; and increasing access to productive resources and potential economic resources for increasing the yield of agricultural superior commodities and their derivative industries. There are 4 formulation strategies for the development of superior agricultural commodities in Baubau City, i.e.: Increasing Production Results; Developing Commodity-Based Downstream Industries based on Agriculture; Increase Business Financing Capacity; and to Increase Market Availability of Downstream Industrial Products.
