Abstract

The article analyzes the linguistic view of the Cossack in Polish, Ukrainian and Russian folklore and historical songs. The methodology applied is based on Jerzy Bartmiński’s linguistic worldview conception. The aim of this article is to explore the main tendencies in cognitive portrayal of the Cossack. The article compares the data from Polish, Ukrainian and Russian texts. Given the nature of the sources used, the analysis is not strictly chronological.
