Abstract

This paper discusses how the convergence of media and content has enabled the development of a pluralistic international news agenda, based on the capillary of the Internet. To do so, and understanding journalism as a symbolic institutionalized area, we established that the historical underpinnings of it are in the methods of production and transmission of information as they evolved with/in spite of technological development. We will attempt to show that hyperlocal journalism has contributed to the strengthening of this international agenda, unlike what happens with the one practiced by large media corporations and news agencies.
