Abstract

The history and origin of the term «convergence» and its application in the media space of Ukraine are revealed. The six basic directions of convergence according to A. Caverina are outlined, which are the following: convergence of media (press, radio, television, internet) on the basis of internet platforms; convergence of telecommunication devices and technologies; convergence of media resources in the combination of offline and online resources; convergence of media professions because of transformation of the role and functions of a journalist in the process of gathering and disseminating information; convergence of professional levels connected with simplification of access to information and channels of its broadcasting as well as possibility of active informational participation of the audience in the process of mass communication; service convergence that involves a combination of entertainment, information, marketing and other resources in the network. It is shown that the convergence of traditional media is a kind of synthesis of the culture of production and consumption of information. Linking comprehensively economic, organizational, technological, socio-cultural dimensions, convergence integrates different types of information content with multimedia technologies based on a single digital platform. Going to the highest level of content quality, media convergence creates powerful opportunities for dissemination of intellectual knowledge, effective communication, meaningful collective creativity, formation of national, moral, cultural values, patriotism of Ukrainian consumers on the basis of truthful information in the struggle against psychological and military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Convergence models (for example full integration, transitional media, separate platforms) are characterized. These models optimize the functioning of traditional media, create productive interaction between producers, communicators and interested consumers of information, as well as modern challenges of media convergence are characterized. After all, the process of convergence of editorials requires higher professional competence of journalists, who have to be able to prepare material of any genre so that it can be simultaneously published in a periodical, television and radio program, an online resource. The editorial process of preparing journalistic materials for each media has its own specificity. Convergence of media causes change of the information product: text, sound, video, graphics are integrated into a single information product. There is a «convergence of professionalism» – the interrelation of competencies and the establishment of the concept of a universal journalist with the skills to create content for all possible convergent formats. Therefore, in order to provide the basic qualification needs of the media sphere, it is necessary to train such journalists who are able to create content in all its modern ways and to develop technologies for distribution and delivery of this content to the consumer. Key words : convergence, media space, press, radio, television, internet, journalistic professionalism, universalism of a journalist.
