Abstract

The joint meeting of the Southwestern and Pacific Branches of the Entomological Society of America and the Mexican Society of Entomology April 17–22, 1977 in Guadalajara, Mexico, culminated five years of planning and coordination for this important event. The account of the meeting that follows attests to its success and the need for continued meetings of this kind in future years, expanded perhaps to include a joint meeting of the Mexican Society of Entomology and the Entomological Society of America. Such a possibility exists in 1983 when the annual meeting of the ESA will be held in the Southwestern Branch area. Special thanks and congratulations are due the committee members who worked so long and hard over the years to make this meeting such a success; and to Dr. Martin M. Barnes, who kindly consented to prepare the English and Mexican language accounts of the meeting.
