Abstract

The twentieth annual meeting of the Southwestern Branch was held at the Unidad de Congresos Centro Medico IMSS jointly with the Sociedad Mexicana de Entomologia in Mexico City, February 14–16, 1972. ESA registration included 115 ESA members, 16 students, 12 non-members, 85 wives, dependents and friends, and 4 complimentary; a total of 232; over 200 persons registered with the Mexican society. The inaugural session (9:00 AM, Monday, February 14) was chaired by Ing. Ricardo Coronado Padilla, President of the Sociedad Mexicana de Entomologia . After words of welcome by Ing. Coronado Padilla and Stanley Coppock, Jr., President of Southwestern Branch, the meeting was officially opened by Marcos Ramirez Genel, Subsecretario de Agricultura y Ganaderia of Mexico in behalf of Sr. Don Manuel Bernardo Aguirre, Secretario de Agricultura y Ganaderia of Mexico. The inaugural addresses were presented by Ramirez Genel and T. W. Edminster, Administrator, Agricultural Research Service, USDA. Invitational addresses were presented by Jorge Rabinovich on “Simulacion de Poblaciones de Insectos en Computadoras Digitales” and by V. G. Dethier on “Electrophysiology of Insect-Plant Relationships”.
