Abstract
Japan’s English medium instruction (EMI) started early and developed rapidly with the support of government policies, rapidly improving the internationalization of its higher education. However, Japan’s one-size-fits-all mandatory policy does not take into account the English proficiency of teachers and students, the features of the curriculum, and the lack of corresponding support. This has posed several challenges for both teachers and students.
