Abstract
With the transition to international population accounting standards, the concept of “labor resources” causes a lot of criticism by modern domestic scientists as an archaic concept widely used by economists of the Soviet period. With the simplicity and clarity of its content, the term “labor resources” has recently been analyzed much less frequently in domestic scientific research and is practically not used in labor statistics to denote the totality of able-bodied people, on the basis of this concept it is impossible to study the motives of labor activity. Other objections to the use of this concept are its obsolescence. At the same time, the rejection of the accounting category “labor resources” does not allow objectively treating the entire able-bodied population of a country, region or its administrative-territorial unit.
