Abstract

A dual-polarized single-layer microstrip array antenna with isolation improvement is proposed. Here in, the patch antenna is excited by a quarter-wavelength microstrip resonator. In order to improve the isolation between its two feeding ports, the microstrip resonator has been folded. Its simulated results show that the dual-polarized antenna array has exhibited an improved bandwidth of about -10dB ranging from 10.25 to 10.9 GHz. Meanwhile, the defected ground structure (DGS) scheme is introduced to improve its isolation from 18dB to 24dB as compared with the traditional microstrip antenna array.
