Abstract

A high-efficiency dual-polarized patch array antenna operating in the Ka-band is proposed in this article. The corner-fed patch is used as dual-polarized radiation element. By utilizing the low-loss double-sided even-mode air suspended line to construct the feeding network, a high-gain <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4\times 4$</tex> Ka-band dual-polarized patch array antenna is designed and simulated. The simulated results indicate that the gain of the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4\times 4$</tex> dual-polarized array is up to 17.63 dBi for the x-polarization, and the corresponding radiation efficiency is 93.4%. For y-polarization, the simulated realized gain and radiation efficiency are 16.72 dBi and 83.1%, respectively. Therefore, the proposed Ka-band dual-polarized patch array antenna is demonstrated with low loss, high gain, and high efficiency.
