Abstract

We have proposed a dual-polarized Substrate-Integrated-Waveguide (SlW)-fed aperture-coupled slot antenna array for the high gain applications in millimeter-wave band. A prototype of 8×8 dual-polarized antenna array is designed by stacking three conventional low-cost single layer printed circuit boards (PCB). The impedance bandwidths for |S11| and |S22| are 18% and 17% respectively, with more than 34.6 dB isolation between two polarizations. A gain up to 23.0 dBi, over 80% average efficiency, and almost symmetrical unidirectional radiation patterns along with low-cross polarizations have been observed. Featured with a low-profile and low-cost structure, the proposed antenna array could serve as a competitive candidate for the dual-polarized planar array design operating at millimeter-wave frequencies.
