Abstract
The Institute of Structural Macrokinetics and Materials Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISMAN) was founded in 1987. The foundation of the institute is connected with the scientific discovery of "The Phenomenon of the Wave Localization of Solid-State Autoretarding Reactions" (solid flame phenomenon). The unique feature of ISMAN is that working in the area of SHS science and technology, which found its application in almost all areas of natural sciences. ISMAN now is a well-known leader in the fundamental searching and applied investigations in the field of combustion and explosion processes (including SHS).
