Abstract
Abstract The manuscript describes plasma carburizing process with an emphasis on process parameters rather than structure-property relationships. Following a brief description of the glow-discharge plasma the results on several steels are presented to show the effect of process parameters on the kinetics of carburizing. A diffusion model, utilizing forward finite difference numerical technique, is also given as an aid in estimating process temperatures and times to obtain desired case depths.
