Abstract

Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) are characterised by thermoelastic martensitic transformation behaviour. Large amount of (permanent) plastic deformation that is recoverable by temperature variation is a special feature of these alloys. In this reported work, we have fabricated thin films of TiNi by DC magnetron sputtering under various Ar gas pressures to get near equiatomic composition. The films were annealed at different temperatures and analysed for their structures, crystallinity, phase transformation behaviour, and Martensitic twin formation.
