Abstract

A series of new types of semiconducting ceramic gas-sensing materials, Al2O3-based semiconducting ceramics, have been invented. Hydrogen and methane gas sensors have been made from these materials with different metal oxide additives. These gas sensors have various advantages, such as very good gas selectivity, nearly linear relationship between sensitivity and gas concentration, lower operating temperature, fast recovery time, and good anti-humidity property. The preparation and properties of these semiconducting ceramic gas sensors are presented in this paper.
