Abstract
The interaction of polydimethylsiloxanediols with boric acid has been investigated at 180–200° by infrared spectroscopy. The existence of intermolecular coordination interaction has been deduced from changes in the intensities of absorption bands relating to SiOH, SiOSi, BOSi, BOS and BOH bonds. The hydrolysis of polyborodimethylsiloxanes under various conditions has been investigated by PMR and IR spectroscopy. In the light of the results obtained some conclusions have been drawn regarding the mechanism of polyborodimethylsiloxanes formation, and regarding their microstructure.
