Abstract
Selected compositions in the Ti-Cr-V-Mo system (with the BCC structure-type) have been synthesized and characterized for structural (crystalline structure, solidification microstructure) and thermodynamic properties (equilibrium and reversible hydrogen storage capacity). We present as well the effect of co-melting with a so-called activating phase that results in a secondary phase development and a subsequent enhancement of the hydrogen sorption kinetics. Ageing properties and applicability of such materials for hybrid hydrogen storage systems are also discussed.
