Abstract

The response surface methodology is employed to find the optimal machining parameters for turning of super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) using uncoated carbide tools. The machining is carried out in gas cooled environment and the surface roughness, tool wear, cutting force and cutting temperature are selected as the response. The surface roughness is measured using surface roughness tester and cutting temperature is measured using the thermocouple. The readings are recorded and analysed. The surface plots and contour plots for cutting temperature are plotted.
