Abstract
Beginning with this issue, Russian Education and Society will from time to time publish articles that are written specifically for the journal. This is a break with previous practice, since hitherto we have published only articles that originally appeared in Russian and Soviet journals and newspapers. We think that it will be useful, however, if we also occasionally include original articles that provide a survey of some aspect of education in the former Soviet Union. Suggestions from our readers for topics and authors would be most welcome, as would information about especially interesting materials published in Russian that we may have missed.
