Abstract
Harrington J. W. Jr. (1985) Intraindustry structural change and location change: US semiconductor manufacturing, 1958–1980, Reg. Studies 19, 343–352. This study used conceptualizations of systematic industry change to analyze factors influencing the location of the US-based semiconductor-device industry during the period 1958–80. Changes in industry employment were explained on the bases of industry change and area labour-force and industry-mix characteristics. Significant differences were found in the types of places where different types of production and control activities were located.
