Abstract

The European Space Agency rose from the merging of the European Space Research Organisation (ESRO) and the European Space Vehicle Launcher Development Organisation (ELDO). After two-three years of its existence, it is time to review its new structure, functions and achievements, with particular reference to the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), ESA's technical centre in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
