Abstract

Experiments have exhibited a very rich interplay between laser plasma instabilities. We examine two simple examples to illustrate how laser-driven waves can either directly influence one another or exhibit correlated behavior. Related experiments are discussed. Scaling based on instability gain using linear Landau damping rates is shown to be generally inadequate. Lastly we note that modified electron distributions due to collisional and nonlocal heat transport can be important to include in the zeroth order description.
