Abstract
We describe a prototype of an Electronic Document Delivery Service which is going to replace the existing facsimile-based system of the Central Library of the Italian National Research Council. The architecture is based on a set of distributed components written in Perl, Java and Javascript. The purpose of the project was twofold: to enhance the quality of the service and to reduce the cost.
