Abstract

The relevance of the article is that the rules of law, existing separately can not affect public relations, protecting them, to perform this function requires the existence of a mechanism. In addition, based on the essence of equality of rights and freedoms of men and women, it can be argued that its protection cannot be carried out periodically and unsystematically, which once again emphasizes the need for a mechanism. Accordingly, there is a need to study the main components and the process of their interaction and connection, as a result of which a mechanism for the protection of equal rights and freedoms of men and women arises and works effectively. Based on the obtained data, it is possible to conclude about the features of the mechanism, which will reproduce the essence of equality protection. The international mechanism has special means of influencing relations between states and public relations within the state, and therefore it is important to analyze their effectiveness in terms of the effectiveness of such influence, its necessity in the implementation of protection. In addition, the study of the components of the mechanism of protection of equality will provide an opportunity to analyze them in terms of interaction, and therefore identify only those that contribute to more effective and efficient protection of equality. The article analyzes the specifics of international legislation to ensure equal rights and freedoms of women and men. The legal provisions of international regulations in this area are detailed. The elements of the international mechanism of protection of the rights and freedoms of men and women are characterized, their content and essence are determined. It is concluded that the lack of specialization of bodies is a negative feature, as such bodies would allow to control and protect equality more productively. Specialization allows to analyze all the subtleties of possible manifestations of discrimination in various spheres of life and to develop a set of consistent measures to overcome it. However, when protection is provided by bodies of general competence, the response occurs only in specific cases of violation of equality, which does not contribute to solving the essence of the problem and productive protection.
