Abstract

Russian experience of studying and preserving cultural heritage is considered in the context of the most important international documents of UNESCO and ICOMOS. The author emphasizes the most important methodological importance of international documents and traces their influence on the principles and directions of monument protection in Russia. The problem of "authenticity" is highlighted, which is particularly relevant and controversial among the restoration community. The author posed the problem of studying and preserving the "intangible" heritage, which is in demand today.
