Abstract
The article discusses the peculiarities of the implementation of the museum mission in society, namely scientific and educational activities, in relation to the peculiarities of existence and interaction with society of a special small museum type – apartment museums. The factors, conditions, regulations, that form these features of activities, are given. In addition, the ways of expanding and attracting audience to apartment museums, are highlighted and described, that make it possible to minimize disadvantages of small museums, as space of the areas, collections’ and other restrictions. All classical forms of interaction with the audience and the use of multimedia technologies are considered from the point of view of the pros and cons of their implementation on the basis of apartment museums.
