Abstract

A general view of all aspects of interlending in the United Kingdom in the year concerned. The activities of the National Committee on Regional Library Co‐operation are outlined with special reference to the Working Party on the Future Patterns of Interlending. Regions are examined individually with the themes of interlibrary transport schemes and automated systems for cataloguing and/or interlending predominating. Attention is given to local co‐operative schemes and examples from various parts of the country quoted to illustrate their variety and flexibility. The conclusion drawn from the review is that by operating at several different levels the UK library system manages to provide the great majority of material requested by its users.
