Abstract

An extended van der Waals model is presented which describes a hydrogen-bonded system with an inhomogeneous density distribution. In the framework of this model, the interfacial properties of a coexistence system of gaseous and liquid water are calculated, and it is shown that anomalous behavior can occur in the supercooled region. The predicted surface tension is compared to experimental data.
