Abstract

Exciton scattering to the polariton brance (the lowest exciton band) at low temperatures occurs from the self-trapped exciton state which is located above the free exciton band, but at high temperatures scattering from upper states dominates. The self-trapped depth is 250 cm -1. A characteristics observed in the absorption spectrum at 24 200 and 24 035 cm -1 are interpreted tentatively as an exciton band of quasi-one dimensinal.
