Abstract

This article discusses techniques for interactively aligning chillers and visualizing energy consumption data on a pre-aligned point cloud data (PCD). Three different chillers with varied capacities are retrofit with the PCD. The operator can add, interactively align, and remove the chiller retrofits from the PCD. The proposed method provides an affordable and energy-aware upgrade. It helps in deciding the ideal combination of chiller retrofits based on power consumption. The method includes interacting with 3D chiller models with pre-defined energy limits and virtually aligning them on a pre-processed and video aligned PCD, thereby achieving a 4-in-1 alignment of the pre-processed PCD, the partial PCD, the video, and the chiller retrofit. Interaction with the 3D models and the PCD enables real-time understanding of the energy consumption of the chiller retrofits.
