Abstract

Density (ρ), viscosity (η) and ultrasonic velocity (u) of 5-chloro-2-hydroxy-3-nitroacetophenone (CHNA) in N,N-dimethylformamide have been measured at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K. From these experimental data, various thermodynamic and ultrasonic parameters such as specific acoustic impedance (Z), adiabatic compressibility (βs), intermolecular free length (L f ), relative association (R A ), relaxation strength (r), free volume (V f ), internal pressure (P i ), solvation number (S n ), apparent molar volume (V ϕ ), apparent molar adiabatic compressibility (K s,ϕ ) with their limiting values and slopes have been evaluated. The viscosity data have been analyzed in the light of Jones-Dole equation. The variations of these parameters with concentration and temperatures have been studied and results have been interpreted in the light of various interactions occurring in solution under applied experimental conditions.
