Abstract

Abstract Diphenylphosphine groups were introduced into spherical beads of chloromethylated 2% crosslinked polystyrene. The product obtained is the polymeric analog of the monomeric ligand triphenylphosphine. The kinetics of the interaction between the solid polymeric ligand and three Rh(I) square planar complexes— RhCl(CO)(P φ 3 ) 2 , Rh(P φ 3 ) 3 Cl and [RhCl(CO) 2 ] 2 —were investigated. Mechanisms for each comple are suggested, each consisting of the unique chemical interaction of the particular case and the mass transfer mode of the reactants into the polymer beads.
