Abstract

The paper begins by reviewing current thinking of positioning organisations in the context of the supply network in which they operate. A number of factors – grouped under social and economic trends and IST – that will influence supply chains of the future are then outlined. Two scenarios for future development, and eight factors that will influence supply chains over the next 50 years, are then proposed.
