Performance ImprovementVolume 40, Issue 4 p. 17-23 Article Intellectual capital: Comparison & contrast Susan R. Madsen, Susan R. Madsen mads0101@tc.umn.edu. Susan R. Madsen is an HRD consultant and educator who specializes in manager coaching, planning, and decisionmaking skills; training and development; and work and family relationships. Formerly she worked as a wellness consultant, public education teacher, and the director of a nonprofit organization. Susan is a doctoral candidate in Human Resource Development at the University of Minnesota and currently teaches graduate courses in HRD. Her MS from Portland State University is in Exercise Science/Fitness, with specialized study in overall wellness (physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social). She has a BA from Brigham Young University in Communication Education. Susan currently resides in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, with her husband and four children. She enjoys being involved in community work and finds great pleasure in coaching her eight-year-old daughter's soccer team and helping them improve their performance on the field.
